Anthropic: Claude Opus 4
Anthropic retired Claude Opus 4 (claude-opus-4-20250514) on June 15, 2026,
after deprecating it on April 14, and names Claude Opus 4.8 as the replacement.
Those dates cover the platforms Anthropic runs itself: the Claude API, Claude
Platform on AWS and Microsoft Foundry. Anthropic's own table says that Amazon
Bedrock and Google Cloud set their own retirement schedules. Google Cloud's
Opus 4 model card, last updated September 22, 2026, still gives the
claude-opus-4 launch stage as generally available, with a retirement date
"not sooner than" May 14, 2026.

OpenRouter's anthropic/claude-opus-4 row was last seen in its model catalog
on September 21, 2026. On September 23 the catalog had no such row, and the
model's endpoints API still returned the model record with an empty
endpoints list. So OpenRouter no longer routes the slug. The removal came
about three months after Anthropic's own retirement, and OpenRouter gives no
reason and no removal date. Nothing it publishes suggests the row was renamed
or folded into another one. Whether the delisting follows from Anthropic's
retirement is not something either source says.
